Lyocell:
The secret of
the Varodem
Sense line!

Lyocell

The secret of the Varodem Sense line is the special fibre Lyocell. It is a natural-based man-made fibre that comes mostly from wood pulp from eucalyptus trees. The big advantage is that the fibre is sustainably produced and very comfortable to wear.

The production process in brief

The manufacturing process starts by dissolving the wood pulp in a solvent, creating a cellulose solution. This solution is squeezed through small holes to form fine fibres. The fibres are then washed, dried and spun into yarn. Lyocell is more environmentally friendly than many other textile fibres because the solvent is largely reused in a closed system, making the process less harmful to the environment.

The special fibre is incorporated in the following Varodem compression stockings:

Advantages of Lyocell

What other benefits does this particular sustainable fibre have? We list it for you:

Sustainable

Sustainable

Lyocell's production process uses a so-called closed-loop system, where almost all solvents and water used to convert the wood pulp into fibre are reused.

Bacteria inhibiting

Bacteria inhibiting

Lycocell's bacteria-inhibiting effect is mainly due to the fibre's moisture-regulating properties and smooth surface structure, which together provide a less suitable environment for bacteria to survive and reproduce.

Breathable

Breathable

Lyocell is breathable due to the combination of its microfibre structure, moisture management properties and natural origins. These properties make for a fabric that allows air to pass through, wicks away moisture and therefore offers a comfortable and dry wear feeling.

Thermal equilibrium

Thermal equilibrium

Because Lyocell can quickly wick moisture away from the skin, allowing it to evaporate, it helps regulate body temperature. This ensures the wearer stays cool in warm weather and warm in colder weather.

Extreme softness

Extreme softness

Lyocell is soft due to the smooth and fine structure of the fibres, their round shape, and the careful manufacturing process that ensures the natural softness of the cellulose is maintained. This combination makes Lyocell one of the softest fabrics available.

Smooth

Smooth

Lyocell has very smooth and even surface texture. This smoothness makes the fabric feel supple and silky against the skin. Compared to cotton or wool, for example, which can have a rougher fibre structure, Lyocell is much smoother.
