On this day, you take two courses! That’s efficient and sensible! The content consists of a combination of the courses “Wound Care – General” & “Ulcers, IAD or still Decubitus?”
Wound Care – General
If you work in healthcare, surely “wound care” is a subject that comes up with regularity. It is also a subject about which there is a lot of information, but also quite a few different ways of understanding it. What exactly is meant by “modern” wound healing? And how do I decide which product to choose for which type of wound, at which stage? This course is designed precisely for those who have such questions. Of course, you won’t be trained as a wound nurse in one half-day session, but we will teach you how to “read” a wound. What do you see and what should you do next? You learn to apply the classifications of ALTIS, TIME and WCS and learn to choose the right product.
In addition to the necessary theoretical underpinnings, you will also be consulting on a variety of case studies.
Ulcers, IAD or still Decubitus?
It is often difficult to classify a wound correctly, and for example, the difference between continence-related dermatitis (IAD), pressure ulcers or blemishes is sometimes difficult to discern. Yet it is very important to be able to distinguish these properly, as proper treatment or prevention begins with proper diagnosis.
Practice shows that often an IAD is wrongly characterized as a pressure ulcer category 2, not only the treatment might be more optimal because of this, certainly the prevention of it.
Did you know that there is also a classification scheme for IAD injuries? In this course you will learn to recognize and classify. You’ll learn the “mnemonics” that are usually very helpful.
In addition to recognizing, you’ll also learn about preventive measures. But also about the curative ones. In short, which bandages do you use for what? And when? And when not? And what other disciplines can you involve?
The success of wound healing and quality for the patient is largely dependent on our quality and expertise of (wound) care, enough reason to take a good look at this.
During this course we will focus on the underlying theory as well as discussing multiple case histories. We will also use quiz methods for this purpose.
